Hello! And welcome to this article on how to make money with websites. I’m really excited to share this with you because in this step by step guide, I’m going to clearly explain to you what you need to do in order to turn a passion into a website and a website into a full-time online business.
Once you are well on your way to making money with your website, it only remains to repeat the process with either the same niche, a similar one, another of the same, or a completely different one.
This method is one of the most successful if not the most successful ways that people use to build an authentic online, money making business.
It all comes down to a few steps:
- Find a niche you are passionate about
- Build a website around that niche
- Attract visitors to your site
- Earn revenue
- Repeat the process with other niches
Find a Niche you are Excited and Passionate About
Blogging starts with finding the right thing to blog about. Whatever it is, make sure that it is something you have a real interest in. It could be one thing or several things. This interest is the thing you will be building your website around.
Do you love travel? Do a blog on travel. Do you like cooking? You can blog about cooking. Do you love drones? Start a blog talking about drones. Do you love sport? Basketball? Then make basketball the theme and subject matter of your website.
It is a mistake people are known to make when they get into blogging in order to earn revenue. They don’t place enough importance on the need to go with their heart, if you follow me. Lack of perseverance in this pursuit often comes down to the fact that they lack interest in the core subject matter of their blog.
When this happens, they tend to go from not doing enough research, to not producing enough content and because they lack knowledge, experience and passion for their core subject matter or niche, they eventually burn out and give up blogging altogether.
But blogging is an old, reliable, tried and tested way of affiliate marketing and online income earning. It’s not for those who are looking to make a quick buck. This is a long term and serious pursuit. It should be looked at as a hobby as much as a job.
To begin with, it is necessary to take the focus off the money making side of things and find a rhythm, get into the process and enjoy yourself. Enjoy the learning, the content creation, the exercise of your various skills and talents.
These are some key points to bear in mind:
- Love what you’re doing if you want to persevere
- You learn something new every day in the world of blogging
- You gain experience everyday
- No time is wasted that you spend on your online business pursuit
- Efficiency comes with time
- Diligent work always pays off
- Passion for your niche leads to quality content
- Passion for your niche leads to regular content
- Success comes further down the road
Build a Website Around that Niche
Once you have chosen your niche that you know you’ll be able to talk about, to review products in, etc. you’re ready for the next step, which is to find a good web hosting platform.
WordPress is a good one to go with. It’s easy to use, has a wide selection of themes that can be changed easily, is SEO friendly, reliable and brings you many other benefits as well.
I first started using WordPress when I joined an online training platform that took me through all the steps I needed to take from setting up the website, to earning revenue from it, which believe me, is extremely rewarding.
A good theme to use is GeneratePress. People tend to get carried away with all the fancy themes and the array of colours when they are selecting a theme for their website.
The truth is, you are better off with something more basic. In particular, a web page should ideally have black text on a white background. This is what people like; too many colours only add to distraction which is the last thing you want.
Attract Visitors to your Site
Once your site grows with regular and good quality content, it should start to attract organic traffic. This may take a few months or even less, but there is no hard and fast rule. The world of SEO gets complicated.
Keyword research and an efficient Keyword Research Tool play a big part in this. People are out there on the internet looking for solutions to their problems or a means to get what they desire. They search Google and other search engines as well, but mostly Google.
If you have done things correctly, you will be there for those people with a link to your website. You will help them out by providing solutions to their problems.
There are so many other ways to promote your website, but your main focus should be on getting ranked in Google, so that you can draw unlimited, free and targeted traffic to your site and your offers.
If you’ve set up your site, put in the work, especially by creating good quality articles with carefully chosen keywords, you will end up ranking on search engines, drawing traffic and earning revenue.
Some sites use display ads as a means of earning income. Others focus on using affiliate marketing. Either way, a site that is visible out there on the internet has huge power to make you passive income for the future.
Now, you are likely to be at least 10 times more successful if you have access to the high level training and supportive community that I always recommend to people and that has proven to be perfectly suited to anyone wishing to make money using the power of websites.
There is so much more to it than simply the basic steps outlined in this article. (But with these basic steps you still have the perfect blueprint for success).
Repeat the Process
Once you have your first successful website up and running and starting to earn you money, you will have all the knowledge, experience and resources to build other websites, either in the same niche, or in other niches.
For example, some start out selling books from Amazon, then move on to a new blog about travel, and finally get into the affiliate marketing/make money online niche.
However, there is a lot to be said for sticking with one website and putting all available time and effort into that, especially for the first few years of your blogging and online entrepreneur career.
I hope this basic outline has given you some inspiration and motivation to get into the world of using websites to make money.
