When this happens, they tend to go from not doing enough research, to not producing enough content and because they lack knowledge, experience and passion for their core subject matter or niche, they eventually burn out and give up blogging altogether.

But blogging is an old, reliable, tried and tested way of affiliate marketing and online income earning. It’s not for those who are looking to make a quick buck. This is a long term and serious pursuit. It should be looked at as a hobby as much as a job.

To begin with, it is necessary to take the focus off the money making side of things and find a rhythm, get into the process and enjoy yourself. Enjoy the learning, the content creation, the exercise of your various skills and talents.

I first started using WordPress when I joined an online training platform that took me through all the steps I needed to take from setting up the website, to earning revenue from it, which believe me, is extremely rewarding.

A good theme to use is GeneratePress. People tend to get carried away with all the fancy themes and the array of colours when they are selecting a theme for their website.

The truth is, you are better off with something more basic. In particular, a web page should ideally have black text on a white background. This is what people like; too many colours only add to distraction which is the last thing you want.

Attract Visitors to your Site

Once your site grows with regular and good quality content, it should start to attract organic traffic. This may take a few months or even less, but there is no hard and fast rule. The world of SEO gets complicated.
